As we all know, Venezuela is going through an economic and humanitarian crisis. It’s been going on for many years and things are only getting worse. While a lot of Venezuelans have left the country in search of better fortune, a family have stayed to help all the cats that have been left behind, and all the strays that were born in the meantime. This is Reinoso’s Cat Sanctuary.
I came to know about Reinoso’s cat sanctuary through The Dodo, and I later connected with Javier through Twitter where he posts as often as he can about his kittens. Seeing those cats playing and cuddling, knowing that their destiny could have been much worse, warms the heart.
Even posting on Twitter and managing help can be hard at Reinoso’s. The city where they live goes through electrical shortages and blackouts every single day, leaving everyone with no Internet for a few hours. Food is extremely expensive, and even clean water is often really hard to find. In all this, Javier and his family are doing a miracle in feeding and taking care of cats, providing for all they need, including medical cares.
The only way this sanctuary can survive is through donations, and every dollar counts: you can make a direct donation through Reinoso’s Pay Pal account, knowing that every cent will be spent to care for cats that would have been otherwise left alone.
And in case you need to buy a gift for someone who loves cats, the profits from this mug go entirely to Reinoso’s Cat Sanctuary. It’s like buying two gifts!
